The best collaborations sound like a conversation between two people who stopped trying to impress each other a while ago. “Honey Liquor,” the new single from BombayMami and TroyBoi released Sept. 18, has that ease. The Indo-Swiss singer and the South London producer first connected on 2025’s “Beggin,” and their second outing trades flash for pressure: a slow-burn trap and R&B groove that gives her room to be sultry, sharp and entirely unbothered.
TroyBoi, born Troy Henry, has always been a producer of textures, stitching trap, bass and global rhythm together on records like 2017’s ‘Left Is Right’ and the ‘V!bez’ series. Lately, though, he’s been digging closer to home. ‘Rootz,’ his 2025 EP on Ultra, leaned into the Bollywood music his Anglo-Indian mother raised him on, down to “Kabhi,” a track built around the voice of the late Lata Mangeshkar. “Beggin” was that project’s wild card, the moment a newcomer shared space with Punjabi heavyweights Jazzy B and Amrit Maan. “Honey Liquor” feels like the payoff. At around 110 BPM, it’s cooler and more deliberate than its predecessor, a groove built to let the bass breathe.
BombayMami uses every inch of that space. Her vocal glides between R&B phrasing and South Asian ornament without ever announcing the switch, and the song plays temptation against discipline. “‘Honey Liquor‘ is about keeping your eyes on the prize, even when temptation feels sweet and intoxicating,” she says. “It’s sexy, playful, and a reminder not to lose focus.” It’s a smart inversion of the usual club-song script. Most records about intoxication want you to lose yourself; this one wants you to stay locked in.

The chemistry is real, and she’s said as much. Recalling the “Beggin” sessions last year, she described the pairing as “two worlds meeting in rhythm,” and she calls “Honey Liquor” her “second song with my bro TroyBoi, which makes it even more special.” TroyBoi hardly needs the co-sign. This is the producer whose remix of Billie Eilish’s “My Boy” is closing in on 110 million Spotify streams, whose tracks soundtracked Rihanna’s 2019 Savage x Fenty show, and whose “RedEye” with Justin Bieber has cleared 111 million. That he keeps coming back to her is its own endorsement.
BombayMami, raised between India and Switzerland, has spent the last two years building a catalog that treats fusion as a starting point rather than a gimmick. “Fire in Delhi” and “Hot Boyz” put Indian classical textures inside R&B and pop, and 2026 singles like “Gulabi Mantra” and “Energy (Chak Dum Dum),” with Mannywellz, widened the palette. Then there’s the image that made her a feed staple: BombayMami snowboarding down the Swiss Alps in a red lehenga, a clip that has passed 7 million views across Instagram and TikTok. It’s funny, gorgeous and quietly radical all at once, which is a decent description of her music too.
She’s been proving it onstage as well, with UK sets at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekender, SXSW London and the Great Escape, and her debut album, ‘Peaceful Attitude,’ promises tabla, sitar and multilingual writing laced through modern production. At a moment when South Asian artists are moving from the margins of festival lineups toward the center, “Honey Liquor” makes a simple argument: the diaspora doesn’t have to choose where it belongs. BombayMami sounds like she settled that question a long time ago.
